Updated Winter Break

Parents and Staff:

This is to inform you that we will be modifying the upcoming winter break. Winter break will now begin on Monday, December 21st rather than Wednesday, December 23rd. We will return to school on Monday, January 4th as previously planned.

This adjustment will give our students and staff two full weeks off from December 21st - January 4th. In making this adjustment students, staff and families can have additional time to self-quarantine and potentially see loved ones in a safer environment and we will have two extra days to better clean our buildings for the start of the New Year. We have had two-week breaks in the past and this will match with many of our neighboring school districts’ plans. School activities can still take place over this vacation period as this is not an emergency closure. The days will not need to be made up as we have extra days built into our calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. We sincerely hope you enjoy the holiday season and come back refreshed for the beginning of what we will hope to be a more normal 2021!

Reminder, as we all attempt to enjoy the holiday season, please understand that your family’s decisions regarding social events outside of school could greatly affect keeping our schools healthy and open. After our return from Thanksgiving break, we saw no significant increase in COVID-19 cases in our schools. Things went well and hopefully, the same responsible behaviors will result in that same scenario after our Christmas break.

During the upcoming holiday school break when our school offices are closed, we ask that if your child tests positive for COVID-19 or begins showing symptoms to please email our Director of Health Services, Stefanie Keisler, RN, at stefanie.keisler@badger.k12.wi.us, and your school’s principal. Please be as detailed as possible in the information you provide (child’s full name, the school they attend, list of symptoms, date symptoms started, date of test, if applicable, etc.). Please continue to check our website for resources and information on COVID-19.

Have a happy and healthy holiday season with a little more time with your family to enjoy!
