Please join us in extending best wishes to our 2020 Lake Geneva Schools retirees. These individuals have been esteemed members of Lake Geneva Schools and will be greatly missed.  


Congratulations to our retirees! We appreciate your years of service and wish you an amazing retirement.

 

Ann Quaerna

Ann Quaerna

Ann Quaerna is the Elementary Librarian at Central-Denison Elementary School. You may have walked by the windows in the library and enjoyed extraordinary displays of amazing environments that allow the children to have an adventure in reading. Ann's vast knowledge of children's literature has allowed her to bring an elementary library to life with engaging books and resources.

 

Ann has worked for Lake Geneva Schools for 33 years and also served as an elementary teacher during those years. Ann creates a safe atmosphere in which all children can take risks, learn, and grow. She is a very dedicated and talented teacher. Her excellence in teaching and her strong instructional background have been assets to the Lake Geneva Schools District. Mrs. Querna was one of the original National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certified Teachers in our district.

 

The Quaerna family have been active participants in Lake Geneva, both daughters are Badger graduates. It is well known that Ann bakes the best cookies in the Midwest.



John Karcher

John Karcher

John Karcher is a History teacher at Badger High School. The 2019-2020 school year marked his 31st year with the Lake Geneva-Genoa City UHS district. John uses cooperative learning, interactive learning, discussions, technology, and individual student projects as part of his effective instructional model. Mr. Karcher introduced new classes to Badger High School such as Wisconsin History, co-taught an American History and English class, and served as the district teacher at the alternative school in Elkhorn. 

 

John has shared his skills as a photographer to provide Badger High School with some amazing shots of the facility as well as student activities. In the winter months, Mr. Karcher led the Ski Race team in the role of head coach. Badger High School has been fortunate to have John Karcher as part of the teaching community.



Nancy Lazzaroni

Nancy Lazzaroni

Nancy Lazzaroni is a Mathematics teacher at Badger High School. Nancy has served the Lake Geneva-Genoa City UHS district for 30 years.  One of Nancy's goals as an educator was to bring the parent perspective to the Mathematics department. Mrs. Lazzaroni has been consistently active in implementing technology programs in the Mathematics department.


Mrs. Lazzaroni has been praised by the principals for her work with students outside the mathematics classroom, as well. She regularly attends concerts, dances, clubs, and student events. Most recently you may have seen her in a Badger cap and gown delivering senior 2020 signs around town.


Nancy and family are active participants in the Lake Geneva Community. Her children and husband are Badger graduates. At holiday time, you might find Nancy with the St. Francis De Sales choir singing and bell ringing at Stinbrink's Piggly Wiggly. 


We appreciate Nancy and her efforts for Badger students.



Susan Schmidt

Susan Schmidt

Suzie Schmidt has served Badger High School for 23 years as a World Language Teacher. Madame Schmidt instructs both French and Spanish classes as well as serves as the World Language Department Chairperson. Suzie is greatly appreciated for her love of languages, her passion for solid, engaging instruction, and her deep desire to help all students achieve. Madame Schmidt has been a lifelong learner and found herself back at school gaining information on instruction and leadership. She is a role model for teachers.

 

Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union High School has been fortunate to have Madame Schmidt as part of the instructional team. She has also served as a tennis coach and activity director. Madame Schmidt has been an active member of state-level professional organizations promoting World Languages. In fact, Madame Schmidt fluently speaks four languages. If there has been a new program or initiative at Badger High School, Madame Schmidt has been on the team. She is eager to lend a hand and makes any program better.
